I thought I would share with you the summer pots I just planted and some of the things I think about while planting and arranging them. Here are my little helpers. They are great at holding plants for me and filling in the dirt afterwards. Here ate the pots by my front door. I try to get a mix of both high and low flowers. I always put a spike in the middle of the front pots, surrounded by pink geraniums and some other pretty vining petunias. I like both geraniums and petunias because they're very reliable for blooms all summer. I also sprinkle some low white smaller blooms to give it some romance. It will take a little bit to grow into itself, but even now you can see how pretty it will look once it fills in. I have a couple of smaller pots right at the edge of the driveway that I put a simpler mix in, usually the leftovers of what I overbought for my larger pots. This year I am also trying a couple of climbing annuals to get some variety. So here is the look from the driveway, which I think achieves my desire to have a welcoming feel. My big tip is to take photos of the tags for each pot so you can remember from year to year what you included. And don't be afraid to try new things!
